Peppermint Bark

Holidays are the best, especially all the events leading up to Christmas like the crazy shopping, sweets overload, insane decorations, free food, partying with people you never talk to on regular days, I can't get enough of it. The best part is going to the mall and seeing all the crazy shoppers walking around with bags of useless gifts they just purchased. Ok, maybe useless is a bit harsh, but you have to agree that most of those gifts will end up either being returned, re-gifted, or sitting around someone's house unused for years to come. I just love love love all the craziness that goes on during the holiday seasons, some people dread it to death, but I get a high from it.

This year we made peppermint bark to give away to Hubby's professors. We got this idea from testing out recipes that claimed to be the same as William Sonoma's, since America seems to be obsessed with their version. Rita's Peppermint Bark was the closest and after comparing the final product to that of William Sonoma's, we decided there was not that big of a difference. Sorry to all William Sonoma lovers out there, but that place is W.O.P (way over priced). They do make everything look very presentable, but I've done some price comparison on their bake ware and literally the same exact product, same brand costs way more. I'm not even going to mention how ridiculously expensive their peppermint bark is. I tried to buy some at the William Sonoma Outlet around Thanksgiving thinking it would be cheaper because it was the outlet, boy was I wrong. 10 bucks for 4 squares of peppermint bark. All I can say is, Mr. Sonoma can keep chewing on his own bark, I'll settle for the puny samples they give out.

Despite all the craziness that goes on during Christmas, sometimes I do miss the whole point that it is actually Christ's birthday and I am so thankful for all that God has blessed me with. That is why I will not abbreviate Christmas for Xmas, we're not celebrating some unknown variable, but rather a completely awesome person who died for us.
